Medal winners - Ben Llewellin (silver) Azmy Mehelba (gold) and Glen Korte (bronze)Sharp shooter Ben Llewellin has returned to Pembrokeshire with the fantastic news he has secured an impressive silver medal at the ISSF World Cup held at Cairo’s Egypt International Olympic City in the men’s skeet.

The 29-year-old, who was raised in Rudbaxton, Haverfordwest, didn’t have the best of starts, but as the competition progressed with every round Llewellin just got better and better.

The winner was Egypt’s Azmy Mehehelba who finished 55-60 compared to Llewellin’s 51-60, third was German soldier Glen Korte, who was a bronze medallist at last year’s World Cup in Larnac.

His GB Team coach Richard Brickell was delighted with Ben’s performance which puts in a good place for the other forthcoming important qualifiers in what is the Olympic year.

“I’m extremely happy to have come away with silver at the first competition of 2024,” said delighted Llewellin.

“This competition has really set the tone for the season ahead with the Olympics just around the corner.

“I can’t wait to see what this year brings. I have two qualification events left, Qatar World Cup in April and the European Championships in May in Italy.”
